Quantum Storage DXi Series Disk Backup & Replication Appliance

The Quantum DXi series feature data de-duplication technology which can reduce backup windows to a fraction of there previous time. These products are ideal for companies looking for a secure offsite DR solution.

The DXi series of Quantum De-Duplication appliances are disk-based backup solutions designed to operate with traditional backup software applications in midrange and data center environments. All the models in the series feature data de-duplication technology, which eliminates redundant data to dramatically increase the length of time that users can retain their backup data sets on disk and increase the number of available recovery points. The result is reduced media handling, simplified management, and faster restores. The DXi series products use the same technology to dramatically reduce the bandwidth needed to replicate backup data between distributed sites. This gives users a practical and cost effective way to provide disaster recovery protection over existing WANs.

Quantum DXi Performance

DXi units can be presented to backup software as a NAS mount point (CIFS/NFS), or as a virtual library with either Fibre Channel or iSCSI interconnect. Units can be partitioned to present more than one interface simultaneously, a unique feature in the industry.

DXi Appliances provide disk backup and remote replication protection for datasets from approximately 250GB of data to over 240 TB's—solving problems for a wide range of workgroup, office, and data center environments.

Key Features:

Data de-duplication technology dramatically increases the power of disk to support backup, data retention and disaster recovery planning.

DXi-Series Overview

The DXi-Series disk backup and replication appliances use Quantum’s data de-duplication technology to expand the amount of backup data users can retain on fast-recovery RAID systems by 10 to 50 times. The result is a cost-effective way for IT departments to store backup data on disk for months instead of days, providing high speed, reliable restores, increasing available data recovery points, and reducing media management. For disaster recovery in distributed environments, the DXi-Series appliances make automated, WAN replication practical by dramatically reducing the bandwidth required to move backup data securely between sites.
